Why Do I Need A Grippy Ippy?
As an angler cranks the reel on a level wind rig the top and bottom positions of the crank impart a torqueing force onto the rod grip. This results in the twisting of the foregrip in the anglers hand forcing the angler to squeeze harder. There have been many patents to try and solve this condition but until the Grippy Ippy none were as practical, effective and easy to use. Some modern rods use a triangle foregrip which falls short of the performance of the Gripp Ippy. To counter the toque anglers employ such techniques as bracing the reel against their forearm or grabbing the reel. Some reels have a thumb rest molded into the reel for this purpose.

The design of the Grippy Ippy took into consideration that the fishing line could snag on the grip. The Grippy Ippy is designed to be as low profile as possible while maintaining good strength and ergonomics.
The base or rear of the Grippy Ippy is tapered to leave space between the reel and the Grippy Ippy. In our research none of the reels traverse contacted the bottom of the grip.
